Watch List: Who Aggie Fans Should Know – Auburn Tigers (2025)
What the Aggies need to do to avoid the rat poison of ND win
The Setup
Three games in, and your Aggies are standing taller than they have in years. First, they lit up UTSA with Reed’s debut fireworks. Then they suffocated Utah State with six sacks and a defense that finally looked mean. And just when the nation wondered if it was smoke, Texas A&M walked into South Bend and shocked Notre Dame 41-40, with Marcel Reed finding Nate Boerkircher for the dagger in the final seconds.
That wasn’t just a win. That was a shot heard across college football.
Now comes Auburn. SEC opener. This is where the fight really begins. You want respect? You stack scalps. Notre Dame was proof. Auburn is validation.
Here’s who Aggie fans need to circle on the scouting sheet this week.
Auburn’s Key Playmakers
Jackson Arnold – Quarterback (Jr.)
Oklahoma transfer, now steering Hugh Freeze’s offense. He’s thrown for 700+ yards through three games, with enough mobility to extend plays. But here’s the thing — A&M just forced Notre Dame’s CJ Carr into mistakes and made Utah State’s QB eat turf six times. Arnold has talent, but he hasn’t faced a front until last week vs OU and got hammered. The Aggie front could do the same as the Sooners and make for another long day.
Matchup to Watch: Arnold vs. the Aggie pass rush. If A&M collapses the pocket, Arnold will be bailing water all night.
Jeremiah Cobb – Running Back (Jr.)
Solid start to the year, 52 touches for 375 yards for a whooping 7.2 yard average per carry. Arnold’s mobility helps
Matchup to Watch: Henderson vs. Taurean York and Scooby Williams. Auburn wants balance. A&M’s linebackers want to turn him into a non-factor by halftime.
Cam Coleman – Wide Receiver (So.)
Yep, Aggie fans know this one stings. The five-star from Phenix City who flirted with College Station but stayed home at Auburn. And now? He’s their most dangerous weapon on the outside. 6’3”, explosive, and averaging chunk plays every week.
Matchup to Watch: Coleman vs. Will Lee III / Dezz Ricks. This is SEC talent colliding. Lock him up, and Arnold’s night shrinks.
Eric Singleton Jr. – Wide Receiver (Jr.)
The other piece of the receiving puzzle. He’s steady, reliable, and works the short and intermediate zones while Coleman stretches the field.
Matchup to Watch: Singleton vs. A&M’s nickel coverage. Don’t sleep on him — if Aggie corners focus too hard on Coleman, Singleton will move the chains.
Robert Woodyard Jr. – Linebacker (Jr.)
The enforcer in Auburn’s front seven. Plays downhill, has the speed to chase, and will be tasked with containing Le’Veon Moss and Rueben Owens.
Matchup to Watch: Woodyard vs. the Aggie running backs. Auburn’s best chance is to bottle the stable early. Problem is, Moss and Owens just gashed Notre Dame for key yards when it mattered most.
Kayin Lee – Cornerback (So.)
Young, twitchy corner who’ll be thrown straight into the fire. That fire’s name? KC Concepcion and Mario Craver.
Matchup to Watch: Lee vs. KC/Craver. Notre Dame couldn’t stop them — 194 yards and 3 TDs across the last two weeks. If Auburn leaves Lee on an island, Aggie fans should be licking their chops.
Auburn’s Upset Formula
- Cobb churns 20+ carries to slow the game.
- Coleman hits one deep.
- Eric Singleton Jr. keeps chains moving.
- Force 2 Aggie turnovers.
- Quiet Kyle early.
A&M’s Kill Shot Formula
- Start fast. Reed & WRs light up the first quarter, and the crowd takes over.
- Moss & Owens downhill. Wear them down until Auburn taps out.
- Hicks & Regis wreck the pocket. Don’t let Arnold breathe.
- Special teams tilt. KC & Bussey flip the field — again.
- No slop. Notre Dame taught this team discipline matters.
Final Word
This is the fork-in-the-road game. For Auburn, a shot at legitimacy. For A&M, a chance to slam the door on the “are they for real?” questions and start writing a playoff résumé.
Prediction: Texas A&M 35 – Auburn 21.
Kyle Field roars. The Aggies lean on their stars. And by the fourth quarter, Auburn is just another body in the ditch.
